Disney Musicals in Schools Program

PHES has proudly been chosen as one of the six schools in Allegheny County to participate in the Disney Musicals in Schools (DMiS) program!

In collaboration with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, PHES will receive guidance from two teaching artists to help perform one of the 30-minute Disney KIDS musicals. The possible shows include 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin, The Aristocats, Finding Nemo, Frozen, The Jungle Book, The Lion King, and Winnie the Pooh

The support from The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust will last for three years, during which they will assist PHES in establishing its musical theatre program. Upon the conclusion of this term, PHES will then take on its own self-sustaining musical theatre program.

While benefiting from the expertise of the teaching artists, PHES is also tasked with assembling its own staff for the DMiS program. Therefore, Loyal Jasper will serve as the lead director, Jillian Lesaca as the choreographer, Chesney Ostrosky as the musical director, and Amber Keefer as the stage manager.

The program will kick off in early January. Participation eligibility in the musical is extended to third through fifth-grade students through an application process.

"This program will allow us to offer musical theatre in all three of our schools." shared Loyal Jasper, lead director and school counselor at PHES.

PHES is enthusiastic about this opportunity and eagerly anticipates sharing more details as they become available. The school holds an optimistic outlook for the musical theatre program in the years ahead.
